The Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Mponua\u00a0in the Ashanti Region, Isaac Asiamah has described President John Mahama as the nation’s “worst performing president.”<\/p>\n

He said Ghana is currently in a state of hopelessness due to the poor performance of the Mahama government.<\/p>\n

He opined that the state of the nation address was postponed because \u201cthe President himself cannot be bold enough to fix a date to come and address Parliament, because he himself doesn\u2019t feel that it is well for him to address Parliament, because his record over the past one year has shown that he is the worst performing president Ghana has ever produced.\u201d<\/p>\n

The MP also took a swipe at the Finance Minister, Seth Tekper describing him as an \u201cincompetent Finance Minister Ghana has ever produced.”<\/p>\n

He questioned his achievements since he was appointed to man the Finance Ministry.<\/p>\n

Mr. Asiamah<\/span> asked, \u201cwhat has he achieved? Check the records. Statutory payments, payments that are in law which are supposed to be paid; compulsory payments are all in arrears. Common fund, GETFund, NHIA, all the statutory payments are in arrears.\u201d<\/p>\n

But in a response, a Deputy Information and Media Relations Minister, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu in an interview on Accra based Joy FM,\u00a0<\/em>said \u00a0Mr. Asiamah<\/span> is engaging in \u201cpolitics of convenience.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, it is unfair for the MP to say that Ghana is in a state of hopelessness as government is doing its possible best to salvage the situation.<\/p>\n

He expressed regret that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its Parliamentarians continue to predict \u201cdoom and gloom at every opportunity they get to contribute to our national discourse.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister suggested that although the country is facing some difficulty with the management of the economy it \u201cis no basis why<\/span> a Member of Parliament will deliberately describe his own country as being in a state of hopelessness.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further denied assertions all statutory payments are in limbo saying, \u201csome payments have been made. There are other outstanding payments that government<\/span> remains committed to making\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Kwakye<\/span>-Ofosu insisted that government<\/span> has on no platform refused to admit that the state is facing serious economic challenges.<\/p>\n
