All working people of Ghana will today join millions across the world to mark the annual May Day celebration.<\/p>\n
President John Dramani Mahama will be the special guest of honour at this year\u2019s celebration which will be held at the Jubilee park in Wa in the Upper West Region.<\/p>\n
This year, the day will be marked under the theme: \u201cElection 2016: The Role of Workers in Securing Peaceful Elections for National Development.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the Police in the Upper West region say they have put in place counter terrorism measures to ensure an incident-free celebration.<\/p>\n
Deputy Upper West regional Police commander, Dr. Saibu Gariba in an interview explained that enough men have been deployed to ensure there is adequate security.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have actually deployed a very great number for this operation. In terms of numbers we are taking covert operations because of some counter terrorism measures we are undertaking and for this reason I cannot give you the exact numbers but I can assure you that\u00a0 we have made adequate provision for this operation. We have deployed men from the entire municipality and across the region to support this operation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
