{"id":210568,"date":"2016-04-30T15:40:39","date_gmt":"2016-04-30T15:40:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=210568"},"modified":"2016-04-30T15:40:39","modified_gmt":"2016-04-30T15:40:39","slug":"nana-konadu-to-lead-ndp-in-2016-polls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=210568","title":{"rendered":"Nana Konadu to lead NDP in 2016 polls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Founder of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has been declared the Presidential candidate to lead the party in the November polls.<\/p>\n<p>The declaration was made by a representative of the Electoral Commission at the party\u2019s conference held today [Saturday] at the Trade Fair centre in Accra.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-210510 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/5-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"NDP Congress\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nana Kondadu after the close of nominations on Wednesday was the only person who filed her forms for the position.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-210511 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/7-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"NDP Congress\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Her husband who is the former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings and his children were at the Trade Fair centre to support Mrs. Rawlings.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-210505 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/10-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"NDP Congress\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the declaration, Mrs. Rawlings called on the members of the party to rally behind her in order to wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-210513 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/a-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"NDP Congress\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ghana \u00a0is a great country but the people are being suffocated with weak and bad governance&#8230;Let us join hands and lift our country so we can confront all the negativity,&#8221; she added.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Konadu will be facing President John Mahama, candidate for the NDC, Nana Akufo-Addo, NPP flagbearer among others in the November polls.<\/p>\n<p>The NDP flagbearer was disqualified by the EC during the 2012 elections hence could not take part in that election.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Godwin A.
