The Electoral Commission (EC) last Thursday begun a limited voter registration exercise to enable them capture new voters ahead of the November 7, general elections.<\/p>\n
But according to the PPP Parliamentary candidate, the EC should not have wasted taxpayers money for the exercise.<\/p>\n
In his opinion, the EC should have liaised with the National Identification Authority so that people can register as soon as they turn 18.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”rnCcohPsIUlB1UVcwm7MiMlGkqipHuOk”]\u201cHere we are in a country, and you call it a limited registration exercise, costing so much money to tax payers, and you could have just instituted to work with the National Identification Authority to ensure that when somebody turns 18, they can register. You don\u2019t need to do this useless process at this time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n He added that \u201cno political party is the birth and death registry but they are told to go and monitor the exercise and are expected to be able to look at people and say that they are not old enough.
