{"id":209797,"date":"2016-04-27T17:54:05","date_gmt":"2016-04-27T17:54:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=209797"},"modified":"2016-04-27T17:54:05","modified_gmt":"2016-04-27T17:54:05","slug":"homowo-ama-warns-fake-taskforces-over-ban-on-noise-making","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=209797","title":{"rendered":"Homowo: AMA warns &#8216;fake&#8217; taskforces over ban on noise making"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has warned against the trend where some private individuals and groups without any authority attempt to enforce the ban on drumming and noise making.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s ban on drumming and noise making will commence from Monday, May 2 to Wednesday, June 2.<\/p>\n<p>According to the AMA, there is already a taskforce in place to enforce the ban consisting of AMA personnel, the police service and representatives from the Traditional and Christian Councils.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the AMA said, \u201cApart from the task force which consists of AMA personnel, the police service and representatives from the Traditional and Christian Councils, no other person or group of persons should be seen or found enforcing the abatement of noise in the metropolis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The AMA also urged citizens in Accra to abide the ban saying adherence to the guidelines of the ban would be \u201cin the interest of peace, harmony and national security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They further entreated the Christian, Muslim and Traditional Authorities to show respect for one another and restrain their followers from making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the beliefs of each other\u2019s practices.<\/p>\n<p>Below is the full AMA statement detailing the guidelines of the ban.<\/p>\n<p>The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) wishes to inform all residents in the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Area that, this year\u2019s ban on drumming and noise making commences from 2nd May to 2nd of June 2016.<\/p>\n<p>It has therefore set the following guidelines in the interest of peace, harmony and national security.<\/p>\n<p>1. During the period of the ban, the usual form of worship should be confined to the<br \/>\npremises of churches\/mosques and noise levels be minimized to the barest limits possible;<\/p>\n<p>2. The Christian Community, Muslim Community and the Traditional Authorities must show respect for one another and restrain their followers from making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the beliefs and practices of one another;<\/p>\n<p>3. The positioning of loud speakers outside the premises such as churches, mosques pubs, funerals (social gathering) is banned. Roadside evangelists are to cease their activities during this period.<\/p>\n<p>4. All political parties and keep fit clubs are to minimize their noise levels if they embark on any outdoor activities.<\/p>\n<p>5. Apart from the task force which consists of AMA personnel, the Police Service and Representative from the Traditional and Christian Councils, no other person or group of persons should be seen or found enforcing the abatement of noise in the metropolis;<\/p>\n<p>6.
