The Ministry of Health has said it has received clearance from the Finance Ministry to post the unemployed nurses, midwives and psychiatric nurses to various health facilities in the country.<\/p>\n
The Coalition on Monday threatened to occupy the Flagstaff House<\/a><\/strong><\/span> if the state fails to employ them.<\/p>\n This was after they rejected government\u2019s offer to enroll them onto the Youth Employment Agency<\/a><\/strong><\/span> (YEA) as compensation for not posting them to government hospitals.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”amkTkpcFgLzBpl4AqqlQ5vvVzoICcPWG”]They also accused the Ministry of Health in delaying the processes involved in getting them cleared and posted to the various health facilities for the past eight months.<\/p>\n But speaking to Citi News<\/strong> Public Relations Officer of the Ministry Tony Goodman said the aggrieved health workers have no cause to demonstrate since the clearance has been secured.<\/p>\n He explained that, despite securing the clearance, because not all of the nurses have applied for postings, the Ministry is giving them the opportunity to apply before the postings begin.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is not everybody who has procured the forms, some haven\u2019t and it\u2019s just necessary for them to also get it so that when we are posting, we know that we are posting everybody. Thankfully, we\u2019ve been told that the financial clearance has been signed by the Minister of Finance so it will be ready for us to show to them as evidence as demanded by them. So I think they have cause to demonstrate.\u201d<\/p>\n Mr. Goodman also said the Ministry held a meeting with the unemployed nurses and had told them about the current development.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat they want to hear is that you\u2019ve been posted to this place with appointment letter which is also not possible because you need to get people to apply for the job before you are employed so at the end of the day they understood what we were saying,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
