{"id":209656,"date":"2016-04-26T07:05:40","date_gmt":"2016-04-26T07:05:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=209656"},"modified":"2016-04-26T07:05:40","modified_gmt":"2016-04-26T07:05:40","slug":"supreme-court-hears-zanetors-case-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=209656","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court hears Zanetor\u2019s case today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/03\/30\/zanetor-runs-to-supreme-court-for-cover\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Supreme Court<\/strong><\/a><\/span> will today hear an application filed by the National Democratic Congress\u2019 (NDC) Parliamentary Nominee for Klottey Korle Dr. Zanetor Rawlings challenging the capacity of a High Court hearing a case challenging her Candidature.<\/p>\n<p>Incumbent MP for the area, Nii Armah Ashietey is in court challenging his defeat in the November 11<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px; line-height: 20px;\">,<\/span>\u00a02015 primaries citing some constitutional breaches.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;WMzhxICYjvZch6aWYuJCTIxOLYgavNDy&#8221;]According to him Dr. Zanetor Rawlings did not qualify to be elected as the parliamentary nominee since at the time of the contest she was not a registered voter in the country.<\/p>\n<p>This he said is a serious constitutional breach but lawyers for Dr. Zanetor believes the high court is not an appropriate forum to adjudicate the matter.<\/p>\n<p>She is thus\u00a0seeking a restraining order to stop the judge hearing her case at a High Court.<\/p>\n<p>The writ filed by lawyers of Dr. Rawlings is seeking \u201can order of prohibition directed to the His Lordship Kwaku T. Ackah Boafo \u00a0of the High Court\u2026restraining him from proceeding to hear the dispute between the applicant and the interested parties pending a decision in the instant application.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registering Zanetor now won\u2019t save her<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But Nii Armah Ashietey had accused Dr. Zanetor of running to the Supreme Court <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2016\/04\/04\/registering-zanetor-now-wont-save-her-ashietey\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>to buy time<\/strong><\/a><\/span> to enable her register in the upcoming limited voters registration exercise which has been slated for\u00a0April 28 to May 8, 2016.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Godwin A.
