{"id":208346,"date":"2016-04-21T11:10:25","date_gmt":"2016-04-21T11:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=208346"},"modified":"2016-04-21T11:10:25","modified_gmt":"2016-04-21T11:10:25","slug":"soldiers-allegedly-torture-16-year-old-into-coma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=208346","title":{"rendered":"Soldiers allegedly torture 16-year-old into coma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 16-year-old boy accused of stealing a mobile phone belonging to a soldier has been allegedly beaten to pulp and is currently in a critical condition at a community hospital in Nsawam in the Akuapim South Municipal District of the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p>The teenager was assaulted by two soldiers who pointed guns at\u00a0his head in a bid to get him to confess to stealing the Techno mobile phone.<\/p>\n<p>The victim, believed to be a long standing errand boy for one of the soldiers, \u00a0corporal Sampson Atuahene was allegedly beaten till he fell unconscious.<\/p>\n<p>To further pressurize him to produce the missing phone which he claimed he never took, the two soldiers, according to an eyewitness, melted plastic material (polythene bags) and dropped them on his naked body until he regained consciousness.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Senior Sister of the victim, Patience Bama , the boy went to the military quarters at Shishegu to fetch water with someone\u2019s motorbike when the incident happened. She revealed that the boy, after fetching water was asked by the soldiers to return after accusing him of stealing the mobile phone.<\/p>\n<p>The soldiers subsequently seized the motorbike and asked him to produce the phone but when he was unable to do so he was assaulted.<\/p>\n<p>She said the two soldiers, after beating her brother with sticks, also threatened to shoot him if he did not produce the phone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI got to the scene where the soldiers were beating my brother, and , in fact it was unbelievable. Nobody could come to my brother\u2019s rescue. Whenever I tried to plead with them, they turned their anger on me and pushed me down. My mother also came there, and when she saw the condition of my brother, she could not also bear it, so some of the people came to our rescue, but for my brother, nobody could go near him. These soldiers were still beating him, using their boots to step on his abdomen and hitting him in the head&#8230;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey will lash him until the stick will break and they go for different ones, and then the soldiers will sit and smoke wee, and then continue the beating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She asserted that the two soldiers, Corporal Sampson Atuahene and Collins Agyei Boamah, threatened to send her brother to the military barracks and kill him there, if he did not produce the phone.<\/p>\n<p>Patience Bama said she decided to involve the Police after\u00a0realising her brother\u2019s life was in extreme danger,<\/p>\n<p>He is currently in a critical condition at the Nsawam Government Hospital.<br \/>\n&#8211;<br \/>\nSource: The Chronicle<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 16-year-old boy accused of stealing a mobile phone belonging to a soldier has been allegedly beaten to pulp and is currently in a critical condition at a community hospital in Nsawam in the Akuapim South Municipal District of the Eastern Region.
