The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has described as misplaced incessant calls by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a new voters’ register ahead of elections in November.<\/p>\n

The NPP and its allied bodies including the Alliance for Accountable Governance and the Let My Vote Count Alliance, have constantly pressurized\u00a0the Electoral Commission to\u00a0compile a new voters’ register for the November 7 polls, since in their view, the current one is bloated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the EC’s decision to maintain the current register, those asking for a new register are now requesting for the validation of voters.<\/p>\n

The Tamale South legislator who doubles as the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, criticized the opposition party while addressing the Tamale South ward and constituency executives at a strategic meeting on the upcoming limited voters registration exercise scheduled for April 28 to May 8.<\/span><\/p>\n

He maintained that the Electoral Commission would not kowtow to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) demand for a new register.<\/span><\/p>\n

He advised the NPP and its\u00a0allies to rather collaborate with the Electoral Commission to conduct credible elections on November 7.<\/p>\n

Haruna Iddrisu admitted that it was necessary to clean the current voters register ahead of the November 7 polls.<\/p>\n

He cited multiple registration, registration of minors and foreigners as some electoral malpractices associated with the compilation of a new register for previous elections.<\/p>\n

He declared \u201cOperation promise John Mahama your ballot box\u201d as one of the strategies to retain President John Dramani Mahama.<\/p>\n

According to the Tamale South MP, President Mahama deserves\u00a0a second term to accomplish his unfinished changing lives agenda.<\/p>\n

He said the second phase of President Mahama\u2019s administration will concentrate on job creation. On the limited voters’ registration exercise, Haruna Iddrisu anticipated a 100,000 voter population in the Tamale South constituency.<\/span><\/p>\n

He promised to give the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Tamale South a technical knockout on November 7.<\/span><\/p>\n
