The Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Education Winneba (UEW), Dr. Emmanuel Kenneth Andoh, has slammed the West African Examinations Council WAEC, over the recent exam leakage in the ongoing WASSCE.<\/p>\n
Dr. Emmanuel Kenneth Andoh described as disgraceful attempts by WAEC not to accept responsibility for the three exam papers that reportedly leaked.<\/p>\n
He said the perennial examination leakages have become a problem not only for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), but for all stakeholders in the education sector.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”ORk6pqA3dvliETfxzeWXeAXHkg198xn4″]He made the comment over the weekend at the 20th congregation ceremony of the University of Education Winneba.<\/p>\n
He described WAEC\u2019s explanation of the leakage as pathetic and called on them to take full responsibility for the mess and tackle it head-on.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is in this respect that I personally consider as very unfortunate the initial pathetic attempts by the WAEC leadership to explain and describe the recent West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) leaks as not an examination leak, but rather a \u201cpre-information\u201d or \u201cfore-knowledge\u201d of the ongoing examination papers. Unfortunately, no amount of jingoistic semantics will clear this national shame until WAEC accepts the responsibility for the mess, makes amends, and takes the necessary steps to prevent any future leaks.<\/p>\n
He also called on the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to come together in order to find a solution to \u201cthis disgraceful acts in the education sector.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this respect, there is the need for all the stakeholders in the education sector, especially the ministry of education, the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), and the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), not excluding the Teachers and Education Workers\u2019 Union (TEWU), to come together and close ranks to work closely with WAEC to achieve that noble objective of no more examination leaks in this country.
