The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described as \u201calien\u201d the demands by pro-opposition pressure groups and the\u00a0New Patriotic Party (NPP), for the Electoral Commission to validate the voters\u2019 register.<\/p>\n
The NPP is pushing for the validation of the register<\/a><\/strong><\/span> after their demands for a new voters’ register before the November\u00a0election failed to yield positive results.<\/p>\n They have argued that a validation will at least ensure that the register is clean.<\/p>\n But the Director of Elections for the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, told Citi News<\/strong> after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Thursday, that all the parties had agreed on an audit of the register and not validation.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”MWKexu2MsfzeHbp82DeSV9vEHlSRdXFd”]\u201cValidation is not part of our agenda because ever since we came for this IPAC meeting, we\u2019ve been talking about auditing the register, the name validation is so alien so we were even asking where the name validation came from.\u00a0So as far as we are concerned, the Electoral Commission has put proposals before us for auditing the voters’ register and has asked political parties to look at the proposals and the procedures and bring their comments. So that is what we know, we don\u2019t know anything called validation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n On the raging public debate over the Electoral Commission\u2019s new logo, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the NDC has no reservations about it.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are not concerned about the EC’s logo. The EC is an established institution, if they decide to do their logo, the political parties don\u2019t have any problem with it. It\u2019s not part of the electoral process; we come to IPAC to discuss electoral process. The EC Chairperson has told us that if they are launching the logo, they will invite us and explain the reasons behind the new logo, we don\u2019t have any problem at all.
