Funeral rites for the late Member of Parliament of Abuakwa North constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu will be held today in Accra at the State House.<\/p>\n

JB Danquah was allegedly killed by a 19-year-old boy, Daniel Asiedu, who stormed his residence at Shiashie in Accra.<\/p>\n

The body of the former Deputy Minister for Women and Children\u2019s Affairs will be taken to Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern region for final burial rites tomorrow.<\/p>\n

He was the Abuakwa North MP from 2000 until 2008, when he lost the seat to the NPP\u2019s Prof. Samuel Amoako. He returned in 2012 to win the seat.<\/p>\n

He left behind\u00a0a wife and two children. Joseph Boakye Danquah, a chartered Accountant by profession, is the grandson of late J.B Danquah, a Ghanaian statesman, pan-Africanist, scholar and historian, who played a significant role in pre- and post-colonial Ghana.<\/p>\n

I went to steal, not to kill<\/strong><\/p>\n

The suspect had earlier\u00a0told investigators that he went in the MP\u2019s house\u00a0to steal<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>but ended up\u00a0killing him in self-defense.<\/p>\n

According to the charge sheet, the suspect, Daniel Asiedu, 19, said \u201che went there to steal but in the process, the deceased woke up and held him.<\/p>\n

He said in a struggle with the deceased, he pulled out his knife and stabbed him several times before he became weak and fell down.<\/p>\n

About J.B Danquah <\/strong><\/p>\n

The late Joseph Boakye Danquah, once served as a Deputy Minister for Women and Children\u2019s Affairs.<\/p>\n
