Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt, has taken on some media houses which published reports suggesting that some students\u00a0of one the church&#8217;s topmost senior high schools, Wesley Girls at Cape Coast in the Central Region, are\u00a0deeply engaged in occultism.<\/p>\n<p>The Most Rev. Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt, who doubles as the Chairman of the school&#8217;s board in a statement issued on Wednesday, described the reports as false<\/p>\n<p>Some reports on Monday suggested that about 22 students of the school had been nabbed for belonging to\u00a0a cult in the respected girls&#8217; school.\u00a0The publication further alleged that the students have been using a book \u00a0titled &#8216;Angels and How to Activate Them&#8217; which is totally alien to the school\u2019s Christian beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>Most Revered Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt\u00a0wondered why the various media houses accused students of practicing occultism without verifying the information.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We write to place it on record that the school authorities and the Board are disappointed at the extent of falsehood in the publications as the school authorities are unaware who these 22 girls mentioned in the story are, when and where the alleged induction ceremony was held for some girls in the school initiating them into the occult sect and who their supposed leader in the school is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To even state in one breath that the said girls have been handed over to the Methodist Church in Cape Coast, and in another that when the Methodist Church in Cape Coast was contacted, they knew nothing about the matter, shows how spurious the story is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The school further promised to take the appropriate steps to unearth the mischief behind what it calls \u201ccowardly attempt by the above-named media to tarnish the hard won and\u00a0enviable reputation of our esteemed school.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement specifically singled out Accra-based Starr FM, UTV and the Ghanaian Times Newspaper for the supposed false publication.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The named source of this April 11, 2016 publication in question titled \u201cOccultism at Wesley Girls: 22 students nabbed\u201d, was Starr Fm. UTV on April, 2016, also aired the said story while other media houses subsequently joined the fray with some commentaries and\/or insinuating pieces.\u00a0It is most regrettable that the Ghanaian Times newspaper, one of the oldest and respected newspapers outfits in the country, also joined the bandwagon. Interestingly, none of the above media approached the authorities of Wesley Girls High School for any information whatsoever before putting the story in the public domain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile\u00a0the Ghana Education Service (GES), has also\u00a0denied the\u00a0reports after a meeting with authorities of the school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Below is the full statement by the Board Chairman of the school<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b><u>STATEMENT BY THE BOARD CHAIRMAN OF WESLEY GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL \u2013 THE MOST REVEREND TITUS KOFI AWOTWI PRATT<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Our attention has been drawn to a number of unfortunate publications and raging discussions in the media alleging that school authorities at Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast have recently \u201cnabbed\u201d twenty-two (22) students for belonging to an occultly sect and engaging in occultism.<\/p>\n<p>The named source of this April 11, 2016 publication in question titled \u201cOccultism at Wesley Girls: 22 students nabbed\u201d, was Starr Fm. UTV on April, 2016, also aired the said story while other media houses subsequently joined the fray with some commentaries and\/or insinuating pieces.<\/p>\n<p>It is most regrettable that the Ghanaian Times newspaper, one of the oldest and respected newspapers outfits in the country, also joined the bandwagon.
