President John Dramani Mahama has asked all Ghanaians who have turned 18 years and above, to go out in their numbers and register in the Electoral Commission\u2019s impending limited voter registration exercise scheduled for April 28 to May 8th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The President said this will help young people participate in deciding on the future of the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Chiefs and people of Akwamu as part of his ‘Accounting to the people’ tour of the Eastern Region, President Mahama said Ghanaians must all have a stake in the country\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

From the 28th<\/sup> of April to the 8th<\/sup> of May, the Electoral Commission is opening the electoral register and all our young people who have just turned 18 years of age and above, are required to go and register so that they can vote on November 7 2016, in the coming presidential and parliamentary elections.<\/p>\n

\u201c…So Nananom [Chiefs] I will encourage you to publicize this and encourage our young people to come out and go and register so that they can vote,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t just shout \u2018E dey be\u2019 \u2013 Register and vote<\/strong><\/p>\n

While speaking at Sokpoe in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region last week, President Mahama said \u201cwhen the register is opened, make sure you go and put down your name. I don\u2019t want you to come to rallies to shout ‘E dey be Keke’ and on November 7, you won\u2019t have a vote. This time we want a turn out of 99.99%,\u201d President Mahama said.<\/p>\n

It appears the President is seriously on new voters to shore up his votes in November, and has thus taken up the campaign to publicize the upcoming registration.<\/p>\n
