{"id":205570,"date":"2016-04-10T11:30:38","date_gmt":"2016-04-10T11:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=205570"},"modified":"2016-04-10T11:30:38","modified_gmt":"2016-04-10T11:30:38","slug":"request-for-paramountcy-causing-confusion-in-gonjaland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=205570","title":{"rendered":"Request for paramountcy causing &#8216;confusion&#8217; in Gonjaland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paramount Chief of the Wasipe\u00a0Traditional Council, Wasipe-Wura Mumuni Anyanie Kabasagya II, has rejected\u00a0the Tampulma ethnic group&#8217;s request for paramountcy in the Gonjaland Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>At a recent news conference, the Tampulmas served notice of seeking legal redress against the Gonjaland Traditional Council over its failure to recognize them as citizens of Gonjaland.<\/p>\n<p>Their Spokesperson, Amadu Latif hinted of a street protest ahead of the court action to back their request.<\/p>\n<p>He posited that the Tampulmas have been overly marginalized regarding the Yagbon-Wura\u2019s failure to approve Kadicharitina Musah Mahamadu II as paramount chief representing the Tampulma communities at the Gonjaland Traditional Council.<\/p>\n<p>But the Paramount Chief of the Wasipe\u00a0Traditional Council, Wasipe-Wura Mumuni Anyanie Kabasagya II at a counter news conference in Daboya rubbished the request.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the Tampulmas who are under his jurisdiction were not qualified to attain a paramountcy status.<\/p>\n<p>The Wasipe-Wura Mumuni Anyanie Kabasagya II accused the leader of one faction of the Tampulma ethnic group, Musah Mahamadu of priding himself as \u2018Kadicharitina\u2019 a title the Wasipe-Wura said was deleted from\u00a0the chieftaincy titles in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary to the Wasipe Traditional Council, Haruna Mauza who addressed the media stated that \u201cMusah Mahamadu is not and does not qualify to be the leader of the Tampulma ethnic group of the North Gonja District.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He however disclosed that the Wasipe Traditional Council recognized Tampulim Naa Lawal as the leader of the Tampulma ethnic group.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-205577\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/e2ef0496-bbab-4487-a464-8b6950cb1028.jpg\" alt=\"e2ef0496-bbab-4487-a464-8b6950cb1028\" width=\"600\" height=\"355\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTampulim Naa Lawal, resident in Gbasimpa who is enskinned by the Wasipe-Wura paramount chief of Wasipe Traditional Area is the Tampulmas leader.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musah Mauza narrated that Gonjas and Tampulmas have co-existed peacefully in Gonjaland and promised that the status quo would be maintained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTampulmas by extension are Gonjas because of the role they play at the Wasipe-Wura\u2019s palace and Gonjaland as a whole.
