Suspended National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, is set to testify as a witness in the suit brought by another suspended national executive Sammy Crabbe, who\u00a0is\u00a0challenging the decision of the party asking him to step aside as second vice chairman.<\/p>\n
The decision to draw\u00a0Mr. Afoko into the witness box became necessary following \u00a0questions raised by Sammy Crabbe’s lawyers over the capacity of one members of the party’s disciplinary committee, Madam\u00a0Gifty Kusi.<\/p>\n
The request by the plaintiff, which was vehemently objected to by lawyers of the NPP, was eventually granted by the court.<\/p>\n
The suspended Vice Chair of the NPP opted to go to court months after his suspension by the National Executive Council, citing violation of the rules of natural justice, error on the face of the records and a breach of procedure.<\/p>\n
Mr. Crabbe was suspended indefinitely last year, alongside the party\u2019s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong. The suspension of the two came after the suspension of the National Chairman Paul Afoko.<\/p>\n
They were suspended for \u201cmisconduct\u201d which included a\u00a0disregard for party structures. The two are also seen\u00a0as allies to Mr. Afoko.<\/p>\n
Mr. Crabbe, who is perceived as an ally to the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko, refused to appear before the NPP’s committee after several invitations before\u00a0his suspension.<\/p>\n
