The Member of Parliament for Atebubu-Amantin in the Brong Ahafo Region, Sanja Nanja, has apologized to the queen-mother and traditional authority in his constituency after he hurled\u00a0insults on them.<\/p>\n
According to him, he made the offensive comments\u00a0out of anger.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”Eb943ySXftrmAugX5X6mWDL0jitBe4F3″]The traditional authority had banned Sanja Nanja from engaging in any social activity in the area for raining insults on the Queen-mother in an interview with a local radio station.<\/p>\n
Speaking to an Accra-based Kasapa FM, the MP said he had withdrawn all the abusive words he used on the queen-mother and the traditional authority and pleaded for their forgiveness.<\/p>\n
“Last week Friday, the queen-mother of Atebubu and I had a misunderstanding which resulted in me hurling insults on her out of anger. I want to use this platform to plead with the queen-mother and all the traditional heads of Atebubu to forgive me and receive me as the son I use to be.”<\/p>\n
\u201cI am putting a lot in place to render a proper form of apology to them; they should please forgive me. The queen-mother didn\u2019t say anything against me. The radio on which I made that statement did not air the queen-mother’s comment to me to listen. I spoke out of anger not knowing what she said. I withdraw all the abusive statements I made,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Atebubu Traditional Council claimed that they banned the MP because he disrespected them by using some offensive words against the\u00a0queen-mother.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by Nana Owusu Akyeaw Brempong II, Chief and President of the Atebubu traditional area, said they took the action to serve as a form of punishment to the MP<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis was during an interview he (the MP) granted on Pink Radio 96.9MHZ mid-day news on Friday 1st April, 2016 also carried on peacefmonline.com. By this conduct, the chiefs and people have arrived at these decisions against the MP. This is to avert any unforeseen happenings that may arise from his unguarded statement and to ensure peace in the socio-political life of the area,\u201d the statement noted.<\/p>\n Clashes<\/strong><\/p>\n Prior to the ban on the MP, some angry followers\u00a0of the MP clashed with supporters of the former DCE for\u00a0the area, Sampson\u00a0Owusu Boateng,\u00a0over his removal from office.<\/p>\n Supporters of Mr. Boateng believe the MP masterminded his removal from office and later\u00a0set fire to the NDC\u2019s party office in the area.<\/p>\n Later, some NDC youth also allegedly ransacked the home of the official bungalow of the former DCE.\u00a0Three people have so far been arrested\u00a0to assist in police investigations.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
