The Judicial Service Staff Association (JUSSAG), has declared an indefinite strike from Friday, April 1, following government\u2019s failure to pay their allowances and also review salaries.<\/p>\n
JUSSAG\u2019s decision comes months after it issued an ultimatum for government to either settle the salary arrears or face its wrath.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”vNNqWLO8UgYXMy63iFEZjQ7eiiD951cE”]Citi News’<\/strong>\u00a0Fred Djabanor says\u00a0work at the various courts across the country is expected to come to a standstill as a result of the decision.<\/p>\n \u201cFrom tomorrow [ Friday], every activity in the court, including people coming to the registry to file cases, people coming to follow up on cases,will be suspended. Everybody who is part of the\u00a0Judicial Service will be laying down their tools on Friday,” Fred said.<\/p>\n Fred quoted the President of JUSSAG, Alex Nartey, as saying that the Association was fed up with government\u2019s delay in paying their salary arrears for over a year.<\/p>\n \u201cThey are saying that issues surrounding the consolidation of their arrears and salaries that were supposed to be paid was forwarded to government about a year and half ago but government has not implemented it.”<\/p>\n Addressing members at the premises of the court on Thursday, the JUSSAG\u00a0President, Alex Nartey, said government appears not to be taking them seriously.<\/p>\n \u201cWe thought that if government, was minded of listening to us, if government really had the third arm of government at heart, it would not have stayed for nine good months …we don\u2019t think that government needed nine good months to get back to us and say I am forming a committee. We think that government has not been very fair to us. Thus the National Executive Council (NEC) of JUSSAG hereby directs the immediate withdrawal of services by all staff of the judicial service from 1st<\/sup> April, 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n JUSSAG embarked on a strike in May\u00a02015<\/strong><\/p>\n The Association in May\u00a02015, \u00a0embarked on a similar action but later called it off after government\u00a0assured them their concerns would be addressed.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Marian Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana
