{"id":202448,"date":"2016-03-29T13:15:25","date_gmt":"2016-03-29T13:15:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=202448"},"modified":"2016-03-29T13:15:25","modified_gmt":"2016-03-29T13:15:25","slug":"set-questions-within-curriculum-ges-to-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=202448","title":{"rendered":"Set questions within curriculum \u2013 GES to schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed all District Education Officers and headteachers to ensure that questions for students at the basic level are within the approved curriculum.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The directive is to prevent mistakes in exam questions, following an incident that occurred at Pusiga in the Upper East Region, where NPP\u2019s Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, was referred to as &#8216;all-die-be-die&#8217; in a mock exam question preparing students for the next Basic Education Certificate Education (BECE).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;ODvljeO4m8incsvUSSiQFW0kqG2IQzFl&#8221;]Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the Public Relations Officer of GES, Reverend Jonathan Bettey, said\u00a0the West African Examination Council (WAEC), would\u00a0be consulted to guide the service in the preparation of exam questions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe are advising the head teachers, district directors and anybody in connection with examination questions to be extra vigilant and edit the questions to avoid embarrassment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further admonished teachers to be mindful of the questions that they set.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThey should go straight to the curriculum. They should set questions that are in the textbooks for the children to answer to avoid all these problems. I believe that WAEC, the examination body, is taking notice of all these things to make sure it does not happen,\u201d Reverend Bettey added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>GES condemns \u2018all die be die\u2019 mock questions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">GES has further condemned education heads at Pusiga in the Upper East Region, for allowing\u00a0a mock examination question which told students\u00a0that\u00a0the Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, is also known as \u201call die be die.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Describing the question as substandard, the Public Relations Officer of GES, Reverend Jonathan Bettey, told Citi News education authorities in the area should have been circumspect in setting the questions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt has come to the limelight that the schools in that district were writing a mock and that question came which is related to the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana\u00a0Akufo Addo being nicknamed as \u2018all die be die.\u2019 Ghana Education Service has a standard in setting questions and for that matter WAEC that supervises our examination also has a standard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
