{"id":200768,"date":"2016-03-21T17:37:27","date_gmt":"2016-03-21T17:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=200768"},"modified":"2016-03-21T17:37:27","modified_gmt":"2016-03-21T17:37:27","slug":"chinese-government-help-build-ghanas-first-indoor-sports-arena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=200768","title":{"rendered":"Chinese government to help build Ghana\u2019s first indoor Sports Arena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vaderpuye, has revealed that plans are in place to construct Ghana\u2019s first ever multi-discipline sports complex.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The structure is expected to provide the perfect hub for Ghana to develop athletes in \u00a0lesser funded sports ahead of future competitions while providing a space for recreational activities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Minister believes that Ghana should take a cue from Congo Brazzaville who recently unveiled a similar edifice which hosted the 2015 All African Games.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI am looking at the long term vision of us having the first sports auditorium that will have swimming, weightlifting and a gymnastics arena.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIf Congo has done it we should be able to do it.&#8221; Just before I arrived here this morning I held a meeting with the Chinese ambassador and I am exploring the possibility of getting a Chinese grant to build our Sports Dome.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cA number of corporate bodies have also been engaged to ensure that this dream of owning an indoor arena becomes a reality,\u201d he told a gathering of Sports journalists.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the plans come to fruition it will be the second sports project the Chinese government has funded in the last decade.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chinese contractors IPPR International Engineering Corporation\u00a0according to\u00a0reports\u00a0have handed \u00a0over the Cape Coast stadium to the National Sports Authority.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By:Benjamin Nketsia\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vaderpuye, has revealed that plans are in place to construct Ghana\u2019s first ever multi-discipline sports complex.
