{"id":200382,"date":"2016-03-20T12:17:31","date_gmt":"2016-03-20T12:17:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=200382"},"modified":"2016-03-20T12:17:31","modified_gmt":"2016-03-20T12:17:31","slug":"pistorius-targeted-conman-offering-repeal-murder-conviction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=200382","title":{"rendered":"Pistorius targeted by conman offering to repeal murder conviction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">A man who allegedly targeted Oscar Pistorius in a scam offering to repeal his murder conviction has been arrested.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The man posed as a prosecutor and demanded 250,000 rand ($16,400; \u00a311,300) in order to &#8220;make the case disappear&#8221;, local media say.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He has now been charged with corruption, according to South Africa police spokesman Hangwani Mulaudzi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pistorius shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The News24 website says that the conman contacted the former Olympic athlete on Thursday night. He was then arrested following a police sting operation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a statement, Mr Mulaudzi said: &#8220;A 33-year-old man was arrested on Friday afternoon in Pretoria soon after he received a deposit of 40,000 rand for his services which included&#8230; [having] Oscar Pistorius&#8217; murder case destroyed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pistorius was found guilty of murdering Ms Steenkamp after a South African appeals court overturned his initial manslaughter verdict in December.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He is due to be sentenced in April.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man who allegedly targeted Oscar Pistorius in a scam offering to repeal his murder conviction has been arrested.
