The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally confirmed the death of its\u00a0former party Chairman and Election Campaign Manager,\u00a0Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, who passed away on Sunday dawn in London.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by John Boadu, the party’s acting General Secretary, the NPP expressed its condolences to the family of the late Obetsebi Lamptey, who they described as “a true son of the Nation”.<\/p>\n

The NPP has also requested that all party flags be flown at half mast in honor of the memory of their former party chairman.<\/p>\n
“As we mourn this great man of our party and country, we request that all party flags-national, regional, constituency and polling stations offices- fly at half mast.”<\/p>\n
Below is their full statement<\/strong><\/p>\n The New Patriotic Party regrets to announce the passing to glory of its former national chairman, Mr. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.<\/p>\n Mr. Obetsebi who led the party to victory in the 2000 and 2004 General elections as Campaign Manager died in London this dawn.<\/p>\n Mr. Obetsebi Lamptey did not only serve his party selflessly and diligently,\u00a0 but also helped in nation building.<\/p>\n He was a Chief of Staff and\u00a0 former Minister of\u00a0Tourism and Diasporan Relations in the cabinet of President John Kufuor.<\/p>\n Previously, Obetsebi-Lamptey was\u00a0Minister of Tourism and\u00a0Modernization of the Capital (2002\u2013 05) and Minister of Information (2001\u201302).<\/p>\n Indeed, a true son of the Nation and the great elephant family has passed on.
