{"id":198365,"date":"2016-03-12T13:00:58","date_gmt":"2016-03-12T13:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=198365"},"modified":"2016-03-12T13:00:58","modified_gmt":"2016-03-12T13:00:58","slug":"error-ridden-brochure-a-sabotage-against-mahama-imani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=198365","title":{"rendered":"Error-ridden brochure a sabotage against Mahama &#8211; IMANI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President of policy think-tank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, has stated that the errors in Ghana\u2019s 59th Independence brochure were deliberately done to embarrass President John Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana\u2019s 59th Independence Day celebration has been\u00a0ridiculed after it was discovered that the over\u00a03,000 copies of the brochure printed for the historic event, contained grammatical, spelling and factual errors.<\/p>\n<p>The error that stood out\u00a0was the fact that Kenya&#8217;s President, Uhuru Kenyatta, who was the guest of honour, was rather captured as\u00a0the President of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Ung6I5WEM0TqwjsHxGuW0Vg9bIwvlNUD&#8221;]The acting Director of Information Services Department, who took responsibility for the errors, has been\u00a0dismissed after public outcry spearheaded by workers of the department.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0speaking on<strong> Citi FM&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a0current affairs and news analysis programme &#8216;T<strong>he Big Issue<\/strong>, Mr. Cudjoe questioned why some portions of the brochure were written without mistakes, while\u00a0some parts were full of\u00a0grammatical and factual errors.<\/p>\n<p>He is of the view that the processes used to award the contract of printing the brochure to some individuals brought about a sabotage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t see how any normal person who has gone through some form of secondary school education would have put together these words\u2026 you could tell that other parts of the brochure were written quite \u00a0well, so for me it\u2019s either a combination of witchcraft, vodoo or sabotage\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the procurement process left some people at the presidency out of the contract; hence a careless attitude in cross-checking the brochure before it came out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis sabotage is induced, reason why oversight was thrown to the dogs because it was being done in a hurry and somebody wanted to make sure that his or her cut is there\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Explain the award of contract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also speaking on the programme, Sydney Casely-Hayford,\u00a0a\u00a0Financial Analyst and social commentator, \u00a0said\u00a0government must explain\u00a0how the contract for the printing was awarded.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Casely-hayford, \u00a0also a member of \u00a0the pressure group Occupy Ghana, \u00a0has started a process to demand\u00a0answers from government on the printing of the brochure.<\/p>\n<p>He further requested a full disclosure on how much it cost the state to print the error-ridden brochures for the sake of accountability and transparency.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013<\/p>\n<p>By Lawrence Segbefia \/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>President of policy think-tank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, has stated that the errors in Ghana\u2019s 59th Independence brochure were deliberately done to embarrass President John Mahama.
