The Chief Executive Officer of the Women\u2019s World Banking Ghana, Charlotte Lily Baidoo has urged young ladies to be determined in their quest to become successful career women.<\/p>\n

According to her, being able to surmount the challenges that come along with being a woman in a male dominated business world will largely depend on a lady\u2019s ability to work hard at attaining it.<\/p>\n

Charlotte Baidoo was speaking on a special edition of Citi Fm\u2019s<\/strong> Business Today<\/strong> which focused on successful business women in commemoration of this year\u2019s International Women\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the challenges are many for you, what you have to do is to find alternatives and move on, as a young lady obviously, I went through these challenges, but I can say that all the work that I have done, I had seen them in the newspapers, she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do not need to know anybody, since I got here without knowing anybody, I don\u2019t see why I should give in to any male partner or boss to get anything, I determined to work hard and allow my work speak for me, Charlotte Lily Baidoo added.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive Officer of technology firm, Edel Technologies, Ethel Cofie attributed women\u2019s inability to rise to the top to society\u2019s orientation which has made women subservient to their male counterparts.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou will have to work harder to get women get these opportunities\u2026 there is a feeling of maybe too much, and I shouldn\u2019t be seen pushing too much, we are taught that just be good enough or be perfect as a result we don\u2019t go after the opportunities that will take us to the next level.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ethel further bemoaned the low patronage of local technologies which she cited as a challenge to the growth of the technology business.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe big players in the market are hesitant to use local technology while SMEs adopt local technology; this is partly due to past experiences that they are not happy about and the use of one man teams to build softwares for your companies.”<\/p>\n

A third panelist, Mabel Simpson, the CEO of accessories firm, Msimps, advised on the need to identify a partner who shares in the dream of the entrepreneur\u2019s business ideas. According to her, a partner who does not believe in a woman\u2019s ideas will ultimately collapse the business idea and the success of the lady.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou all need to understand where you are going, once you know that then you understand you need to support each other. If you do not get someone who understands your business and entrepreneurship, it is not going to work,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile all three ladies advised on the need for successful women to mentor budding ones to enable them achieve their dreams.<\/p>\n
