<\/p>\nA group calling itself, the Agogo Youth Association (AYAS), has petitioned the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to help find a lasting solution to the long-standing conflict\u00a0between Fulani nomads and residents\u00a0of Agogo.<\/p>\n

In presenting their petition to the Asantehene, they met him at the Airport on his return from a trip outside the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, Chairman of the Agogo Youth Association, Emmanuel Amakye Buabeng said they petitioned the Asantehene\u00a0 because they have lost confidence in the Regional Security Council’s ability to tackle the matter head-on.<\/p>\n We don’t trust the security personnel<\/strong><\/p>\n He said the presence of security personnel in the area \u201chas become like an annual ritual\u2026because they actually come and go.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are saying that by the end of this year, we don\u2019t want the Fulanis in our land and that is why we have petitioned Otumfuo to intervene. We don\u2019t trust the security personnel; anytime they come around, they tell us they are coming to evict them [Fulanis] fully. There was a time they gave the Fulanis a deadline but during evacuation, they told us that they are going and they will come back but they [security personnel] never returned,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Political activities in Agogo banned<\/strong><\/p>\n The angry residents of Agogo have accused the Fulanis of destroying their crops and killing their relatives who complain.<\/p>\n
