{"id":195074,"date":"2016-03-02T10:00:05","date_gmt":"2016-03-02T10:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=195074"},"modified":"2016-03-02T10:00:05","modified_gmt":"2016-03-02T10:00:05","slug":"strike-high-taxes-govt-meet-businesses-demands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=195074","title":{"rendered":"Strike over high taxes: Gov&#8217;t to meet businesses&#8217; demands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The three day strike by the Joint Private Business Sector Consultative Forum enters the third day despite government\u2019s assurance of reviewing some of the taxes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0It follows a meeting with Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mutala Mohammed yesterday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/business.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160229_111218.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-45500\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-45500 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/business.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160229_111218.jpg\" alt=\"20160229_111218\" width=\"587\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> has gathered government failed to convince the business operators to call off the strike despite reaching a deal which is subject to cabinet approval.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/business.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160229_111009.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-45498\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-45498 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/business.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160229_111009.jpg\" alt=\"20160229_111009\" width=\"587\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deal, <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> understands includes: the cancellation of the one percent Custom Clearing Validation Report (CCVR), excise tax stamp as well as post clearance audit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile the ECOWAS Common External Tariff will be reviewed while the 3 percent flat rate will be reinstated for small businesses instead of 17.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association, Sampson Awingobit Asaki in an interview with <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong> described the deal so far reached as satisfactory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/business.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160229_111211.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-45499\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-45499 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/business.citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160229_111211.jpg\" alt=\"20160229_111211\" width=\"541\" height=\"330\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt came out with what we referred to as five bulleted points and we are satisfied with that.
