{"id":194558,"date":"2016-03-01T10:11:39","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T10:11:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=194558"},"modified":"2016-03-01T10:11:39","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T10:11:39","slug":"salary-validation-process-documents-kept-in-ghana-must-go-bags-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=194558","title":{"rendered":"Salary validation process: Documents in &#8216;Ghana must go&#8217; bags [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It may take more time for work to be completed on the documents submitted by the teachers who are threatening to embark on strike over delays in the payment of their arrears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A visit to the offices of the Ghana Education Service showed that officers vetting the documents have thousands to process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The documents kept in bags popularly known as &#8216;Ghana must go&#8217; bags were lined up awaiting the validation process.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Three teacher unions; the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) have been demanding the payment of their salary arrears and threatened to strike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-194562\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160301000512.jpg\" alt=\"Teacher docs\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The unions, who have been demanding for their salary arrears and allowances suspended the strike until further notice, after a meeting with government last week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-194564\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160301000511-3.jpg\" alt=\"Teacher docs\" width=\"599\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Their decision was to allow the Controller and Account General\u2019s Department and the Audit Department, to validate documents submitted for the payment of the over two years\u2019 salary arrears, and some\u00a0allowances also in arrears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-194563\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160301000511-2.jpg\" alt=\"Teacher docs\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The teachers were paid a little over GHc1.5 million after a meeting with government last week, as part payment of the about GHc16 million owed them in for vehicle allowance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-194560\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160301000511.jpg\" alt=\"Teacher docs\" width=\"600\" height=\"416\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Ghana Education Service (GES) had accused some of the teachers of faking their documents hence delaying the payments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-194559\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/20160301000511-4.jpg\" alt=\"Teacher docs\" width=\"600\" height=\"435\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the GES, out of 14,575 input forms that were initially submitted by teachers for processing and payment, only 6,268 were found to be attached with genuine supporting documents.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It may take more time for work to be completed on the documents submitted by the teachers who are threatening to embark on strike over delays in the payment of their arrears.
