A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly making a statement that President John Dramani Mahama will fall during this year\u2019s Independence Day parade.<\/p>\n
The suspect, Kwame Gyebi was alleged to have made that comment at a drinking bar at Dzorwulu, in Accra and was reported to the police by witnesses.<\/p>\n
According to a highly-placed source at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Gyebi was said to have boasted he knew what he was referring to and dared anyone to mark his words.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople who overheard him reported him to the Airport Police who later handed him over to us.
\nHe occasionally referred to the President as \u201cJohn\u201d while speaking,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n
Investigations ongoing<\/strong> \u201cWe are also running a few security checks because of the security implications of the suspect\u2019s statement. The Parade<\/strong> The President, ministers of state, personnel of the security services, school children, members of the diplomatic corps, trade unions and the general public are expected to be present at the ceremony.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the BNI source, its unit was currently investigating the motive of Gyebi.<\/p>\n
\nWe cannot take anything for granted,\u201d the BNI source noted.<\/p>\n
\nThis year\u2019s Independence Day parade will be organised at the Independence Square on Sunday, March 6, 2016.<\/p>\n
