Pictures: Nsawam&#8217;s water crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For more than a month, residents of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipality and surrounding communities have lived without water.\u00a0\u00a0 Their taps are not flowing.\u00a0\u00a0 This is because the Densu River which serves\u00a0 the community is drying up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0 situation\u00a0 has been attributed to the dry weather condition\u00a0 and other human activities such as illegal mining and farming along the banks of the river.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Residents forced to drink from here<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Residents, mostly women and children have no choice than to either walk or drive several miles\u00a0 just to get\u00a0 the bank of the tributary of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Densu\u00a0 River to fetch water .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some of them (especially school children) have to abandon classes early in the morning\u00a0 to fetch water.\u00a0 The situation is taking a toll on academic work in some schools in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" Nsawam Municipality comes here every day with his taxi full of yellow gallons, to fetch water for his passengers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>The Nsawam\u00a0treatment\u00a0plant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 Pearl Akanya Ofori\u2019s visit to the Nsawam headworks on Saturday revealed that the river with a maximum capacity of 17 meters, had gone below its minimum of two meters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-190108\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/pic-twelve.jpg\" alt=\"pic twelve\" width=\"599\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-190100\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Excavator deployed to dredge the Densu River<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Measures <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As\u00a0 a result\u00a0 of the\u00a0 shortage, the Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing, \u00a0has deployed\u00a0 water\u00a0 tankers\u00a0 to service residents\u00a0 and\u00a0 schools\u00a0 in the\u00a0 Nsawam- Adoagyiri municipality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/02\/15\/nsawam-water-crisis-nadmo-and-national-security-to-provide-aid\/\" target=\"_blank\">deployment <\/a><\/strong><\/span>of the water tankers is being\u00a0done\u00a0by the <em>Ghana<\/em> Water company Limited, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the National Security.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The intervention by the GWCL,\u00a0is intended to mitigate the impact of the water shortage that has hit the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile\u00a0 the company\u00a0has blamed the residents for\u00a0 contributing\u00a0 to the prevailing\u00a0 situation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0 GWCL told <strong>Citi News<\/strong> on Monday that the situation would
