The Member of Parliament for the Asante Akyim South Constituency, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has denied claims that he incited the youth in his constituency to violently attack Fulani herdsmen in his area.<\/p>\n

The MP reportedly made comments thought to have provoked some youth in his constituency to brutalize at least two Fulani herdsmen in the last few days with one of them losing his life\u00a0due to\u00a0the attack.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”lhJDbNxqJhx6bEpARbwHRspzSNl6mTXq”]Following the incident, \u00a0Ashanti Regional Police Chief, Nathan Kofi Boakye, is believed to have made some attempts to arrest the Asante Akyim South MP.<\/p>\n

The Police Chief allegedly called the NPP MP, Kojo Baah, via phone on Thursday,\u00a0and threatened to arrest him for allegedly inciting the violent acts.<\/p>\n

He is also believed to have declared the MP\u00a0a wanted man, with some reports suggesting that Mr. Baah Agyemang had gone into hiding.<\/p>\n

The Police Chief purportedly reiterated his threats on a radio station on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Citi News<\/strong> after Friday’s\u00a0proceedings in parliament, Mr. Baah rubbished some media reports suggesting that\u00a0he was on the run following Kofi Boakye\u2019s pronouncement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very disappointed in the reportage of some news outlets; they published this story that I have been arrested by the regional police. Yesterday [Thursday] I was here. I was at Job 600.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Baah Agyemang also\u00a0chastised ASP Kofi Boakye for the tactics employed in his attempts to arrest him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe called me on phone and I was so disappointed by his threats. As a police officer of his caliber and a lawyer, he knows the procedures to take to apprehend a Member of Parliament and he called me and gave me threats on phone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Baah Ayemang stressed that he did not incite\u00a0the youth to\u00a0violence against the Fulani herdsmen although he had issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the traditional council of his area after a demonstration to drive away the herdsmen<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“I am not a violent person. We will never condone anything that portrays\u00a0violence,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n

Despite his claim of innocence, Mr. Baah indicated he would submit himself to the law enforcers if they follow due process.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they go through the right process, why not? I am a law abiding citizen,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
