{"id":184648,"date":"2016-01-26T13:57:53","date_gmt":"2016-01-26T13:57:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=184648"},"modified":"2016-01-26T13:57:53","modified_gmt":"2016-01-26T13:57:53","slug":"cocoa-processing-company-shuts-down-two-plants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=184648","title":{"rendered":"Cocoa processing company shuts down two plants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Cocoa Processing Company Limited, manufacturers of chocolate and other cocoa products in Ghana has shut down two of its three factories at\u00a0Tema.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to a letter from the company to its staff, the shutdown took effect from Monday, January 25, 2016.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cDue to operational challenges, Management has decided to temporarily shut down the two Cocoa Factories from Monday 25<sup>th<\/sup> January, 2016, until further notice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The letter further directed the staff of the affected departments\u00a0to stay home during the period of the shutdown.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cManagement has therefore decided that staff of the Cocoa factories should stay at home as part of their annual leave with effect from 25<sup>th<\/sup> January, 2016 while the factories remain shut down,\u201d the letter added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is unclear why the company had to take such drastic measures in the wake of high cost of electricity and petroleum products.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are reports that the company shut down the factories because of lack of cocoa beans but management of the company has discounted the claim citing maintenance works on their machines.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin Allotey\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Cocoa Processing Company Limited, manufacturers of chocolate and other cocoa products in Ghana has shut down two of its three factories at\u00a0Tema.
