Even before he officially assumes office, the Minister-designate for the Transport Ministry, Fifi Kwetey says he will work hard to make the transport sector a model for other West African countries.<\/p>\n
The Former Agric minister was appointed by the President, last week to head the ministry, after Dzifa Attivor resigned from her position over the GHc3.6 million cedi bus branding scandal.<\/p>\n
Fifi Kwetey, who has served in different capacities in the Mahama administration since 2012, told Citi News<\/strong> he is ready for the new challenge.<\/p>\n He said \u201cI don\u2019t look at it as a demotion or as a promotion; both ministries are important sectors for the country. Agriculture sector is very key for the country and the transport sector is also a sector that has huge opportunities in terms of virtually becoming a transport hub for the sub-region therefore anything that has to do with transport is very key as far as our economic growth is concern.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m somebody whose natural passion is economics, anything that can help and transform the economy I\u2019m absolutely happy about it.”<\/p>\n Fifi Kwetey further added that the new role given him is “a good opportunity, obviously a great learning opportunity as well.
