{"id":182166,"date":"2016-01-16T13:30:26","date_gmt":"2016-01-16T13:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=182166"},"modified":"2016-01-16T13:30:26","modified_gmt":"2016-01-16T13:30:26","slug":"2-arrested-for-siphoning-fuel-from-overturned-tanker-in-kumasi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=182166","title":{"rendered":"2 arrested for siphoning fuel from overturned tanker in Kumasi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two persons have been arrested at\u00a0Oforikrom, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, for allegedly siphoning fuel\u00a0from\u00a0a petrol tanker which overturned in the area on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to the MTTD \u00a0Commander for the Ashanti Region, Frank Abroakwah.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-182182\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/244a8bf4-6080-4c78-bfd4-433012aecd1d.jpg\" alt=\"244a8bf4-6080-4c78-bfd4-433012aecd1d\" width=\"530\" height=\"398\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Residents of Oforikrom threw caution to the wind\u00a0and scrambled for fuel on the street after the tanker overturned at Anloga junction.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-182180\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/510350ba-b0ff-4294-a632-0d27eb1b478a.jpg\" alt=\"510350ba-b0ff-4294-a632-0d27eb1b478a\" width=\"519\" height=\"692\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The vehicle, with registration number GM 6894-13, believed to be travelling from Tema in the Greater Accra Region with the fuel,\u00a0was heading for the Northern Region but the driver lost balance while trying to negotiate a curve at the junction.<\/p>\n<p>This subsequently led to the vehicle overturning and blocking part of the main road from the opposite direction spilling the fuel in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, there was no explosion and no other car got affected.<\/p>\n<p>But residents in the area\u00a0came out in their numbers to scoop fuel gushing out of the tanker while some commercial bus and taxi drivers\u00a0filled up tanks of their vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Narrating the incident, a Fire Service Personnel, Ebonyi Napolean said \u201cThe\u00a0tanker was\u00a0trying to negotiate a\u00a0curve but without knowing what exactly happened to the driver,\u00a0the truck just went down. It nearly fell on a trotro [Commercial Bus] but it pushed it slightly.\u00a0People were around to siphon the fuel but the Police arrested about two or three people for doing that.
