{"id":182135,"date":"2016-01-16T07:42:33","date_gmt":"2016-01-16T07:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=182135"},"modified":"2016-01-16T07:42:33","modified_gmt":"2016-01-16T07:42:33","slug":"zanetor-focused-on-winning-november-polls-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=182135","title":{"rendered":"Zanetor focused on winning November polls \u2013 Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Godwin Tamakloe, lawyer for the National Democratic Congress\u2019 Parliamentary Candidate for the Klottey Korle Constituency, says his client is no longer worried about her detractors but is focused on retaining the seat for the NDC in the November polls.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe only thing\u00a0my client thinks about now is the victory we had on Friday, and she is focused on winning\u2026Her eyes are very focused on the prize ahead of her,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Zgd5RqOTmOKOal4mRHIFR731tKY0BQdQ&#8221;]The candidate, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, who is the daughter of NDC founder, Jerry John Rawlings, has faced stiff opposition from some disgruntled members of the party who wanted her stripped of her parliamentary bid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They argue that Dr. Zanetor, is not a registered voter in Ghana hence does not qualify to be a parliamentary candidate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They thus\u00a0went to court to have her <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/12\/13\/ndc-members-sue-zanetor-demand-re-run-of-primary\/\" target=\"_blank\">stripped of<\/a><\/strong><\/span> her candidature for\u00a0a re-run of the primary. But the Accra High court <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/01\/15\/181925\/\" target=\"_blank\">dismissed the case<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, Dr. Zanetor\u2019s lawyer explained that although they were initially worried about losing the case, they graciously triumphed over it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe were worried but\u00a0thankfully the court realized that the case\u00a0was brought in bad faith; so that worry has been taken away.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_181927\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-181927\" style=\"width: 599px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-181927\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/IMG-20160115-WA0002.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Zanetor mobbed by her supporters after the court's ruling.\" width=\"599\" height=\"447\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-181927\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr. Zanetor mobbed by her supporters after the court&#8217;s ruling.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said what is now left before them is winning the poll which has been for November this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou can never get everybody supporting you, what is important is that, you demonstrate good faith to all and I can tell you my client has so far demonstrated that she is the person who is so focused and has her eyes on the seat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mr. Tamakloe argued that Dr. Zanetor \u201cconducted one of the cleanest campaigns\u201d in the constituency saying that \u201cwhereas people were making all spurious allegations all over, she kept her eyes on it, she was meeting the people; constituency executives, branch executives among others and won.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
