{"id":180337,"date":"2016-01-08T18:52:04","date_gmt":"2016-01-08T18:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=180337"},"modified":"2016-01-08T18:52:04","modified_gmt":"2016-01-08T18:52:04","slug":"fugitive-drug-kingpin-el-chapo-recaptured","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=180337","title":{"rendered":"Fugitive drug kingpin &#8216;El Chapo&#8217; recaptured"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Mexico&#8217;s authorities have recaptured drug lord Joaquin &#8220;El Chapo&#8221; Guzman, six months after he escaped from a maximum-security jail.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a class=\"story-body__link-external\" style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EPN\/status\/685526304058294272\">In a post on Twitter<\/a><\/span><\/strong>, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said: &#8220;Mission accomplished: We got him.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Guzman was one of the world&#8217;s most-wanted drug lords, whose Sinaloa cartel smuggled cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines to the US.<\/p>\n<p>He escaped from jail through a 1.5km (mile) long tunnel dug in the showers.<\/p>\n<p>The US had offered a $5m (\u00a33.2m) reward for information leading to his capture.<\/p>\n<p>AP reports that Guzman was apprehended following a shootout with Mexican marines in Los Mochis, a coastal city in his home state of Sinaloa.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pena Nieto said on Twitter: &#8220;I want to inform Mexicans that Joaquin Guzman Loera has been arrested.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Guzman&#8217;s July escape was his second &#8211; he was first arrested in Guatemala in 1993 and escaped from Puente Grande jail in 2001, reportedly in a laundry cart.<\/p>\n<p>He was on the run for 13 years before being held again in 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Source: BBC<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mexico&#8217;s authorities have recaptured drug lord Joaquin &#8220;El Chapo&#8221; Guzman, six months after he escaped from a maximum-security jail.
