{"id":178893,"date":"2016-01-04T14:34:08","date_gmt":"2016-01-04T14:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=178893"},"modified":"2016-01-04T14:34:08","modified_gmt":"2016-01-04T14:34:08","slug":"drivers-fight-pump-attendants-over-fuel-price-hikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=178893","title":{"rendered":"Motorists fight pump attendants over fuel price hikes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The upward adjustment in the prices of petroleum products which took effect from Monday January 4,\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_714058769\">is causing\u00a0<\/span>confusion between motorists and pump attendants in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the latest increase of between 18 to 27 percent occasioned by the passage of the Energy Sector Levy (ESL) by Parliament last month, a gallon of petrol is now GHC15.59 pesewas calculated at 3.465 liters and a gallon of diesel is GHc14.76 pesewas pegged at 3.281 liters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;cLjQKD4UzOBFtQmXUatdPgyV7MJz7Ill&#8221;]While some fuel stations in Tamale are selling a gallon of petrol for GHc15.59 pesewas, others are selling\u00a0at GHc16.00.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This situation has angered some motorists who verbally and physically assaulted pump attendants over the price differences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A taxi driver at a Total fuel station could not understand why he got 14.430 liters of petrol at a cost of Gh50.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He felt cheated by the pump attendant who could not explain the changes to the\u00a0him.\u00a0Meanwhile, some consumers of petroleum products, have accused government of being insensitive with the latest hikes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They argued that the new prices did not commensurate with the current prices of crude on\u00a0the world market, and thus demanded a withdrawal or reduction.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, operators of tricycles known as Motor King and yellow-yellow, have served notice they will<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2016\/01\/02\/well-increase-transport-fares-if-gprtu\/\" target=\"_blank\"> increase their fares<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, just as the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) is also meeting stakeholders to announce new fares for commercial cars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The upward adjustment in the prices of petroleum products which took effect from Monday January 4,\u00a0is causing\u00a0confusion between motorists and pump attendants in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale.
