The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary primary in the Ketu South Constituency of the Volta Region is underway in 70 polling stations amidst a low turnout, according to Citi News<\/strong>‘\u00a0King Norbert.<\/p>\n

Nobert blames the low turnout partly on the delay in holding the primary as well as the Christmas festivities.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”g607TvRitDsi20FRzRRt7gq0F4XZVus0″]Election in the area\u00a0was suspended<\/span><\/a> <\/strong>following a court injunction application that was secured by one of the aspirants, Jim Yao Morti, who accused the party\u2019s leadership of an unfair disqualification.<\/p>\n

He went to an Accra High Court to challenge his disqualification \u00a0but his application was thrown out by the court, allowing the\u00a0primary to be conducted.<\/p>\n

The election, according to Norbert, started at 7:00am in most polling centers.\"Ketu<\/a><\/p>\n

The incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Fiifi Kwetey, is\u00a0being challenged by two other aspirants ; Famous Kuaduga and Sylvanus Amedome in the primaries.<\/p>\n

Despite the stiff opposition from the two, Fiifi Kwetey told Citi News<\/strong> he is confident of a landslide victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am confident that the people will give me a massive endorsement to represent them in the 2016 elections.” \"Ketu<\/a><\/p>\n

He further urged party members in the constituency, especially the aspirants, to work together after the polls to ensure that the NDC retains the seat\u00a0in 2016.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery democratic contest brings situations like these. For me, what is most important is that we must understand that in democracy, you win and you lose; so people must have the democratic temper, let bygones be bygones. Understand that Ketu South is what is important. Let’s make sure that we do what we can for the constituency.”<\/p>\n

The Ketu South legislator, who’s also the Minister for Food and Agriculture pledged his commitment to work with others to ensure that the constituency is developed should he eventually emerge the victor.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very confident that we will be able to get more development for our people.\u201d<\/p>\n

In all, 32,637 registered eligible voters are expected to cast their ballot in the primary.<\/p>\n
