{"id":176163,"date":"2015-12-22T08:52:37","date_gmt":"2015-12-22T08:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=176163"},"modified":"2015-12-22T09:02:55","modified_gmt":"2015-12-22T09:02:55","slug":"court-dismisses-lawsuit-against-fiifi-kwetey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=176163","title":{"rendered":"Court dismisses lawsuit against Fiifi Kwetey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will soon organise its parliamentary primary in the Ketu South Constituency in the Volta Region following the dismissal of a lawsuit against incumbent MP for the area, Fiifi Kwetey, and the party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The primary was put on hold because\u00a0a disqualified aspirant, Jim Yao Morti, prayed an Accra High Court <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/11\/17\/ndcdecides-disqualified-aspirant-sues-fiifi-kwetey-ndc\/\" target=\"_blank\">to restrain the NDC from going ahead<\/a><\/strong><\/span> with the election until he is included in the race.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;WEe6EuzAGuf1SeNmICBrKmuKeFuDkjnt&#8221;]According to Yao Morti, his disqualification from the primary was unwarranted as he met all the conditions in the party\u2019s guidelines for the election.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But in an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, the Volta Regional Chairman of the Party, Mr Gyapong Kudzo, said the court on Monday dismissed the application.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to him, the court had agreed with the defendants that the motion if upheld would burden the party and the other aspirants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe reasons are that; if we continue delaying this elections, the expenses for the party would be too much and that of the other aspirants would be spending too much money which would be more than what the guy has spent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said Jim Morti, despite claims he has rectified the inconsistencies in his academic qualifications, failed to notify him and other regional executives on the amendments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The court, to this end, threw it out his application paving the way for the party\u2019s primaries to come off.
