The younger brother of President John Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama has disclosed that he agreed to\u00a0prepare the site for the Ameri power turbines despite receiving what he describes as a meager amount in order to save his brother’s image.<\/p>\n
Prior to the arrival of the ten turbines,\u00a0the Ministry of Power contracted Ibrahim’s company, Engineers and Planners (E&P) to prepare the grounds to host the ten turbines at Aboadze in the Western Region.<\/p>\n
In an\u00a0exclusive interview with Citi News<\/strong>, Ibrahim Mahama said he was only paid GHc25 million, which according to him, the country would have paid more if a foreign company was contracted.<\/p>\n [contextly_sidebar id=”liH8ZLQwPNXjFzZemO3wDcr9lbTMf3tf”]He claimed that no contractor would have settled for such an amount taking into consideration the huge workload.<\/p>\n “The determination of doing that job is to save my brother\u2019s name. If I hadn’t done it, no contractor would have done it,” he emphasized.<\/p>\n He said it took him about three months to complete the project.<\/p>\n The AMERI deal has come under intense public backlash after a Norwegian Newspaper VG, reported that Ghana might have been short-changed in the deal.<\/p>\n They claimed that government is being made to pay for almost about twice the amount more than the total value of the turbines in the market, costing Ghana about $510 million.<\/p>\n
