{"id":175063,"date":"2015-12-17T11:00:19","date_gmt":"2015-12-17T11:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=175063"},"modified":"2015-12-17T08:56:59","modified_gmt":"2015-12-17T08:56:59","slug":"govt-extends-leap-payment-on-e-zwich-to-185-districts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=175063","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t extends LEAP payment on e-zwich to 185 districts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme (LEAP) in 185 districts in the country will now receive their monies electronically on their e-zwich cards up from 13 districts.<\/p>\n<p>This follows agreement signed between the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection and the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS).<\/p>\n<p>LEAP was developed by the government of Ghana in 2008 as a flagship National Protection Strategy programme to empower extremely poor populations in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the signing ceremony the Gender Minister Nana Oye Lithur said paying beneficiaries through e-zwich will ensure that only the rightful beneficiary receive the monies.<\/p>\n<p>She said it also helps with reconciliation of payments, transparency, and the flexibility for beneficiaries to save part of their monies on the card, compared to cash payments.<\/p>\n<p>On his part, the Chief\u00a0 Executive of GhIPSS Archie Hesse said they would work with Rural Banks to deploy POSes so that beneficiaries can use their e-zwich cards to show.
