{"id":173526,"date":"2015-12-10T19:41:24","date_gmt":"2015-12-10T19:41:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=173526"},"modified":"2015-12-10T21:03:55","modified_gmt":"2015-12-10T21:03:55","slug":"john-boadu-now-acting-npp-general-secretary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=173526","title":{"rendered":"John Boadu now acting NPP General Secretary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has been appointed acting General Secretary of the party following the indefinite suspension of the party\u2019s General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Agyepong was suspended by the National Executive Committee (NEC) after a crucial meeting on Thursday December 10.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;ASQK96i8UseMpmaqsH0lksyef5QV0Ggg&#8221;]NPP\u2019s Communication Director Nana Akomea announced at a news conference Thursday that Mr. John Boadu will hold the General Secretary position as an additional responsibility until the next congress.<\/p>\n<p>Nana Akomea explained that the embattled General Secretary violated Article 3(d) of the party&#8217;s constitution that enjoins officers to uphold the decisions of the party.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_173532\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-173532\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Nana-Akomea-presser.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-173532 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Nana-Akomea-presser.jpg\" alt=\"Nana Akomea announcing the party's decision at the press conference.\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Nana-Akomea-presser.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Nana-Akomea-presser-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-173532\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nana Akomea announcing the party&#8217;s decision at the press conference.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mr. Agyepong, by his posture, is also perceived to have supported Mr. Paul Afoko, an action considered as an affront to the regulations of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Among other things, he publicly rejected the party&#8217;s decision to suspend Mr. Paul Afoko.<\/p>\n<p>The party\u2019s Disciplinary Committee had asked that Mr. Agyepong be given a 15-month suspension, while Mr. Sammy Crabbe, the party\u2019s Second Vice Chairman, was to be\u00a0suspended indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>But the NEC decided to suspend both of them indefinitely.\u00a0Mr. Crabbe, who is seen as an ally to the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko, refused to appear before the committee after several invitations.<\/p>\n<p>Some members of the party mostly women, stormed the headquarters to pop Champagne to celebrate the NEC\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Agyepong, who was present at the meeting that suspended him, and Sammy Crabbe, will now join Paul Afoko as national officers who have been suspended by the party in less than two months.<\/p>\n<p>Some political observers had warned that sidelining such figures will deepen the party\u2019s internal strife, but others disagree.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Paul Afoko, is already contending his suspension in court since he claims it\u2019s in breach of the party\u2019s constitution.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear yet what the reactions of Mr. Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe would be as the two are yet to comment publicly on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>John Boadu was once a National Youth Organizer of the NPP, before he became a part of the party\u2019s research team.
