Some thirteen\u00a0persons have been arrested by the Greater Accra Regional Police for attempting to deceitfully\u00a0recruit about 325 Ghanaians as national security operatives.<\/p>\n
The group is said to have started training the new recruits despite not having the authorization to do so.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”OOVYxj6XQgmnPR5Qya49ocLRzpHph1wT”]The Accra Regional Police PRO ASP Affia Tenge in an exclusive Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0interview said the incident occurred at Taifa Burkina, a suburb of Accra.<\/p>\n She said the police on December 5, 2015, received information that a group was recruiting people for the National Security at Taifa Burkina.<\/p>\n She said \u201cPolice proceeded to the scene at the St. Dominic Catholic Church Park at Taifa and met about 325 people undergoing physical training for national security.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that preliminary investigations gathered by the Police revealed\u00a0that the alleged recruitment was initiated by one, Godson Kwame Dohu, a former national security operative and “a self-styled national coordinator of an unregistered company called Afriganfidel Suricom.”<\/p>\n She said Mr. Dohu collected between GHc50 and GHc150 each from their unsuspecting victims \u201cunder the pretex\u00a0of helping them \u00a0to be enlisted into the security services.\u201d<\/p>\n ASP Tenge noted that the suspect, Godson Dohu together with 12 others, have been arrested and would be processed for court soon adding that \u201cinvestigation is still ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n Early this year, scores of people fell for a similar scam in the police service.<\/p>\n Some senior officers in the administration including the Director-General of Human Resource Department of the Ghana Police Service, COP Patrick Timbilla\u00a0\u00a0were interdicted for their alleged role in the scam.<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By: Godwin A.
