{"id":172296,"date":"2015-12-07T06:00:34","date_gmt":"2015-12-07T06:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=172296"},"modified":"2015-12-07T06:05:31","modified_gmt":"2015-12-07T06:05:31","slug":"arii-offers-free-medical-care-to-over-5000-in-kalba-district-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=172296","title":{"rendered":"ARII offers free medical care to over 5,000 in Kalba district [Photos]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The African Rights Initiative International (ARII), a non-profit, voluntary based International relief and development organization responsible for promoting human dignity and sustainable livelihood in Africa and beyond, has offered free medical services to over 5,000 people in 66 villages in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba; one of Ghana\u2019s deprived districts in the Northern Region.<\/p>\n<p>Kalba, the largest village in the district, is close to the border between Ghana and Burkina Faso in the north and La Cote D\u2019Ivoire in the west.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Six.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-172306 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Six.jpg\" alt=\"ARII Six\" width=\"505\" height=\"340\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Six.jpg 505w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Six-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 505px) 100vw, 505px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With a population of about 28,000, the district\u2019s only health facility, the St. Joseph\u2019s Health Centre, established by the Catholic Church, serves the health needs of the people. However years of neglect and under-development coupled with increasing population growth, puts pressure on the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Also, about 95% of inhabitants, who are mainly maize and millet farmers, are poor; and as a result unable to access basic healthcare.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_172305\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-172305\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Seventeen.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-172305 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Seventeen.jpg\" alt=\"The aged were assisted in every way possible.\" width=\"500\" height=\"528\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Seventeen.jpg 500w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/ARII-Seventeen-284x300.jpg 284w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-172305\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The aged were assisted in every way possible.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The diseases prevalent in the area include; malaria, malnutrition and skin diseases such as Psoriasis, ringworm and eczema. The Doctors in the Gap midwives conducted safe deliveries as the only midwife serving the over 28, 000 people was on her annual leave at the time of the programme.<\/p>\n<figure children suffering from acute malaria and malnutrition were saved by the Doctors in the Gap Team as they couldn\u2019t have survived the next day.<\/p>\n<p>As part of building strong community response system to address basic and broader health challenges, the team educated inhabitants on basic preventive health measures and how they could seek early treatment.<\/p>\n<figure in the Kalba Sub-District, the health centre, which serves over 28,000 people, including people along the Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso stretch, was presented with hospital and surgical a nation, as a continent and as a people; to sit and reflect about our own humble contributions in fixing the problems in the healthcare system. Several thousands of people continue to die from causes we could easily contain. The World Health Organization estimates that over 4 million more health workers are needed to bridge the healthcare gap, with 1.5 million needed for Africa alone.\u201d He noted.<\/p>\n<p>Prince Williams Oduro, Executive Director, ARII, said there is the need for more people to reach out to the underprivileged in providing healthcare and other social needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach minute delayed in reaching out to these under-privileged souls with the support they need so desperately, we lose more lives and the number cannot be counted. Your Midwives also conducted great deliveries during your visit.
