President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to protect the interests of Ghanaians, promising to serve them with his “heart and soul.”<\/p>\n

In a Facebook post to mark\u00a0his 57th birthday on Sunday, President Mahama thanked Ghanaians for their support during his tenure in office.<\/p>\n

“I will continue to serve all of you with all my heart and soul! May God bless you all! May God bless our homeland Ghana!” he added.<\/p>\n

John Mahama was confirmed as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) last Sunday, earning a little over 95 percent of votes<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The NDC maintains that the president retains the support of the Ghanains who voted for him during the last general elections.<\/p>\n

However, the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have argued that the percentage of ‘No’ votes during last weekend’s polls are indicative of a feeling of discontent, even among the NDC’s ranks<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n
