A group calling itself the Volta Youth For Development, is\u00a0asking\u00a0President John Mahama to select the Speaker of Parliament, Doe Adjaho, as his running mate for the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n
The Chairman of the group, Prosper Fofo Ndekor, in a statement, said that a decision by President Mahama to replace the Vice President, Kwesi Amissah Arthur, with the Speaker of Parliament, will help the National Democratic Congress (NDC) secure victory in the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0statement signed by Mr. Prosper Fofo Ndekor \u00a0and two others, said their research had shown that the party will lose votes drastically if President Mahama settles on Mr. Amissah-Arthur for the second time because of his incompetence.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”K3zWtYPjuJXwi43KJx2BcyGvjCKKLt9Y”]\u201cThe fact is, Ghanaians have seen Amissah Arthur to be very incompetent as the Vice President to President Mahama and so, our belief which has sprung out of a research is that, his pair again with President Mahama as his running mate can only reduce the votes of NDC drastically.\u201d<\/p>\n
The group is of the view that with the Volta Region\u00a0being the NDC’s strongest support base,\u00a0it is appropriate for the President to select\u00a0a running mate from there.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the continuous strong support of NDC by Voltarians despite our continuous neglect by the NDC when it comes to development and ministerial position assignments, we as a result deem it fit for the President and all the national executives of the NDC party to at least “console our soul” with this running mate position.\u201d<\/p>\n
The release also stated\u00a0that Mr. Doe Adjaho has no hand in their demands, adding that they only suggested him because they view him to be the best man from the Volta Region.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though Hon. Doe Adjaho has no hand in our demand, we have chosen to nominate him to be considered for this position because we see him as the best out of all the voltarians in NDC, which has been proven through a research of ours with respect to the majority of voltarians in and out of the Volta region.\u201d<\/p>\n
But in an interview\u00a0later on \u00a0Citi Eyewitness News<\/strong>,\u00a0Mr. Ndekor reiterated Amissah Arthur\u2019s \u201cincompetence\u201d and noted, \u201cwe are not partisan. We do not do politics.
