Ghanaian car manufacturer, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, has disclosed to Citi Business News<\/strong>\u00a0that his outfit has completed the necessary procedures to allow the commercial sale of the Kantanka cars.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”Y6FDLq7ZOdSmj2XcoVYLjHnm96CQavyX”]According to him, the initial constraints posed by the various agencies involved in the automobile sector have been cleared.<\/p>\n

Dr. Safo has been involved in the assembling of vehicles in Ghana for some years now in a bid to help improve Ghana\u2019s automobile industry to allow competition on the international scene.<\/p>\n

He was speaking to Citi Business News<\/strong> at the commissioning of the Kantaka Assembly Plant at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been able to complete all the necessary requirements as demanded by agencies involving the DVLA, the police as well as the Road Safety Commission,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Apostle Safo, who would not readily disclose the price range for the vehicles however indicated that the prices will largely be dependent on the tax rate charged by government.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for the price, I\u2019ll say it is affordable for now. But it will mostly be dependent on the amount of tax to be placed on the vehicles. The lower it is, the lower the prices and vice versa,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The commissioning was a precursor to the official unveiling of five new ranges of vehicles on Friday, November 27.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Seth Adjei Baah, has assured of his outfit\u2019s support the automobile industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would\u00a0have to look at the marketing strategy; you cannot do manufacturing and still handle the marketing alone. It tends to be difficult so we are going to help to make sure that we discuss with them to be able to identify agents within the country, to be able to start promoting and making sure that Ghanaians patronize what we are doing here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Views sampled from a section of Ghanaians on whether or not they will buy a made in Ghana car showed the affirmative.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor sure; why not? I will just be proud and drive for people to see, one man remarked.<\/p>\n

Another said, \u201cI\u2019ll prefer the Ghanaian vehicle because it is going to help the country in the long run.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo long as it has been tested and certified by the DVLA, why won\u2019t I buy it?\u201d a lady added.<\/p>\n
