{"id":169727,"date":"2015-11-27T06:25:42","date_gmt":"2015-11-27T06:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=169727"},"modified":"2015-11-30T18:53:19","modified_gmt":"2015-11-30T18:53:19","slug":"mahama-must-apologise-he-insulted-us-minority-demands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=169727","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Mahama must apologise; he insulted us&#8217; &#8211; Minority demands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy Minority Leader of Parliament, Dominic Nitiwul, has asked President John Mahama to apologize to minority members for &#8216;insulting&#8217; them.<\/p>\n<p>President Mahama while addressing some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region, suggested that, if minority members have been sleeping on the job hence their criticism of government loans which were discussed and approved by the house.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;r25yPAL79I3qINrMSPrXwn0JkRFGhPGL&#8221;]Speaking to <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Dominic Nitiwul noted that \u201cit was not a wise thing for anybody to insult members of parliament particularly the minority\u201d\u00a0and called for an apology form the president saying, \u201che [ Mahama] knows what to do. He should withdraw it immediately and apologize to the people who voted for us because I did not come here on my own.\u201d \u201cI am not sleeping. Neither are any of the minority MPs sleeping,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Nitiwul further expressed displeasure with the President\u2019s comments saying the minority were \u201churt\u201d and \u201cbetrayed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201dIt\u2019s clear that the minority are not happy with the President\u2019s comments. They feel hurt. They feel betrayed&#8230;Betrayed because for the past one month that the majority members have been working in their constituencies and are not in parliament. It is the minority that\u00a0passes bills, \u00a0loans, work in government, correct things that they bring, do winnowing of bills and for anybody to insinuate, to even say, that the minority are not working, they are sleeping in parliament is very very unfortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A former Deputy Majority Chief Whip in Ghana\u2019s Parliament, Sampson Ahi,<a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/11\/26\/minority-deliberately-sabotaging-govt-business-sampson-ahi\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong> had accused the Minority<\/strong><\/span> <\/a>of sabotaging government business.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that the minority, by their actions, are only trying to get back at President John Mahama for accusing them of sleeping on the job.<\/p>\n<p>But responding to these accusations, Nitiwul dismissed his claims, saying\u00a0\u201cMPs are not kids\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always worked in the interest of the people of Ghana.
