earned 97 per cent<\/a><\/span><\/strong> of the total votes cast in the constituency during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) primary.<\/span><\/p>\nShe polled 4,162 votes while her closest contender\u00a0Captain Owiredu Asuako polled a meager 101 votes.<\/p>\n
She will therefore be facing the NPP’s George Andah, a\u00a0business consultant, in the 2016 parliamentary elections.<\/span><\/p>\nSpeaking to Citi News<\/strong> after her victory, Hannah Tetteh described George Andah as a novice who does not have the experience to unseat her.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cWho is George? You are talking as if he is some political heavyweight. This is someone who has not contested elections before, who has never been in the political space before and I am supposed to be afraid of him?\u201d she questioned in awe.<\/span><\/p>\nResponding to a suggestion that George\u00a0\u00a0Andah may have resources and the needed experience to unseat her, she rhetorically asked \u201cand I don\u2019t have resources and experience?\u201d.<\/p>\n
She argued that she has enough experience both in politics and public service to retain her seat.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am the Foreign Minister, I have been Minister of Trade and Industry and I have won this seat twice and I have won an overwhelming mandate in the primaries and I am supposed to be afraid of someone who is, even if you want to be charitable, a novice. You are the people making George Andah somebody, I do not consider him a threat,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n–<\/p>\n
