Incumbent National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Nii Ashie Moore, has lost his bid to a rather new entrant, Mohammed Ramadan, the son of Alhaji Ramadan, National Chairman of the People\u2019s National Convention, PNC.<\/p>\n
Mohammed Ahmed Ramadan, who was not tipped to pose a tough competition to the incumbent, rather polled a staggering 2,387 representing 59.4% votes of the total votes cast.<\/p>\n
Ahmed Radaman, with a finance background, is a presidential staffer believed to have received massive backing from the presidency.<\/p>\n
The incumbent MP Ashie Moore polled 1,130 representing 28.12%, whiles Mallam Issah, a one-time incarcerated sports Minister in the NPP administration, managed a scanty 97 2.1% of the total votes cast.<\/p>\n
The other contender, a former Municipal Chief Executive, Kakra Vanlare, who was considered a major threat to the incumbent MP, rather polled 368 representing 9.1% of the total votes cast.<\/p>\n
Mr. Vanlare was a close ally of Mr. Ashie Moore, but fell out with him.
\nThe NDC\u2019s candidate will now be pitted against the NPP\u2019s Yaw Buabeng Asamoah in the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n
The Adentan Constituency, created in 2004 after it was carved out of the Ashaiman Constituency, is notoriously known for changing legislators in every election.<\/p>\n
The first MP to have represented the NDC in Parliament in the constituency was Kojo Adu Asare.<\/p>\n
Even though he won the seat by 20, 230 votes representing 54.3% of the total votes, he was not retained after 2008.
