{"id":167805,"date":"2015-11-19T11:02:59","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T11:02:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=167805"},"modified":"2015-11-19T11:24:54","modified_gmt":"2015-11-19T11:24:54","slug":"implicated-judges-not-evading-justice-with-lawsuits-lawyer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/?p=167805","title":{"rendered":"Implicated Judges not evading justice with lawsuits \u2013 Lawyer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lawyer for some of the judges implicated in the judicial corruption scandal Nii Kpakpo Addo has denied claims that the many suits filed by his clients caught in the scandal is part of a bid to evade justice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He argued that his clients are only trying to point out flaws in the petition presented to the Chief Justice by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;eFQJQY2BOzoWwV8qsvq93bMaLRWs22AT&#8221;]Anas petitioned the Chief Justice to have over 30 judges caught on video allegedly taking bribes sanctioned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Chief Justice following the scandal, suspended the judges and set up various committees to investigate the matter and make recommendations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThere&#8217;s been that impression that the writs that have been filed are machinations to frustrate whatever process that is ongoing, it\u2019s completely incorrect. Article 146 (2) of our Constitution is very clear on the matter,\u201d Nii Kpakpa said on the <strong>Citi Breakfast Show<\/strong> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He explained that the Constitution among other things outlines process for the handling of such issues saying that\u00a0\u201cthe procedure by which you seek to remove the judges is as equally as important as the substance in the allegations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nii Kpakpo who is representing three High Court judges including Justices Paul Derry and Ayisi Addo said, \u201cso far, what we have done is to try and deal with the procedure and the flaws that we have seen emanating from the procedure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe have dealt with just the procedural issues so far, now we are going into the substance of the allegation. So in the next few days we will be dealing with defamation suits that will be dealing with the content of the petition that was sent,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
